Caiguna deserves its own page! (The pictures tell the story). Caiguna is one of only a few truck stops along the Nullabor that provide fuel, small goods and accommodation (of sorts). Unless you want to drive for 14 hours in one hit - it is necessary to pull up stumps at one of these stops for the night. So to add to the despair of the long day driving from Esperance to Caiguna we then presented Jade & Brooke with their accommodation for the evening - see for yourself - you can imagine their reaction!!! Having said that, the people were welcoming, the meal reasonable and the room clean.

During dinner we met one of the workers from the sheep station across the road. Some stats that will amaze
Rawlinna Sheep Station
21 million acres
Approx. 70,000 head of sheep
5 1/2 hours from one side to the other.
I didn't like this place at all!
ReplyDeleteIt was really small and it got noisy when trucks went past.
But we got past it quite quickly cause we left at like 5:00am and then we had pretty good accommodation, which was good
If you know the Walker family, you can imagine how disgusted Brooke was at the accommodation in Caiguna. The important information on the Quest Sheet didn't help Brooke's close to panic attack when it stated "we can experience an influx of mice or tiny black bugs. In your rooms you may notice baits and traps to help eliminate these problems." We made it out alive though and we were on our way to the next destination.
